About

Wayne has a long and varied career history that includes writing and performing circus shows, being a clown doctor in children’s hospitals, teaching circus skills, providing specialist skills to the film industry, public speaking on the health benefits of humour, and most challenging of all, being a stay at home dad.

Always up for a new challenge, Wayne enrolled in university as a mature age student, studying Industrial Design and Architecture. The circus equipment in the shed started to be replaced by tools, art supplies, a laser cutter and a 3D printer.

Surprisingly, the skills of writing, producing and performing circus shows translate very well to the field of design.

“Being able to problem solve and think on your feet coupled with the ability to look at a situation from many angles is not only the basis of writing a good joke but is also essential for reaching elegant design solutions.”

Now based in Brisbane’s bayside suburb of Sandgate, Wayne runs Jester Studios, a small design practice that specialises in creative problem solving, bespoke designs, product prototyping, and small scale manufacture.

  1. Hello Wayne,

I just wanted to thank you for the fantastic laser cutting you did. It was a bit of a puzzle to assemble, but that had nothing to do with you. Your role in cutting parts to size was perfect and my finished prototype is now proudly on display. Thanks again
